The Athens conference came a significant moment, as the global financial crisis reveals the many liabilities of the present economic and social order. Transparency International participants were committed not just to the values of sustainability, justice and peace which we all know well enough -- but to apply these values through new global standards. This is exactly what is needed now, and on an even broader scale than we have been discussing.
